Overview
Breakdown voltage (BDV) is the most widely used single check of transformer and switchgear oil condition. Moisture, fibres and conductive particles all lower the voltage an oil sample can withstand before it arcs across a standard electrode gap, so a falling BDV is often the first sign that oil needs filtering or replacing.
MEWOI's automatic BDV testers apply a smoothly ramped 50Hz test voltage of up to 80kV across a 2.5mm electrode gap, detect the breakdown, and repeat the cycle with programmed stirring and rest intervals. At the end of the run the instrument calculates the average breakdown voltage and prints the result, so the operator only has to fill the cup and press start.
The range splits by throughput. The MEWOI803 holds three oil cups and tests them in sequence, which suits laboratories handling a steady flow of samples. The single-cup MEWOI801, MEWOI-801S and MEWOI-JKJQ-1A are portable units for site and workshop testing. The 801S adds ten selectable ramp rates, adjustable rest/stir timing and a 100kV option; the JKJQ-1A adds a colour touch screen, 100-result memory, USB export and test programmes for ASTM D1816, ASTM D877 and JIS C2101 alongside IEC 60156.

Choose the MEWOI803 for high sample volumes in a fixed lab. For portable field testing, the MEWOI801 is the straightforward option; choose the 801S if you need finer control of ramp rate and timing or a 100kV ceiling, and the JKJQ-1A if you test to ASTM or JIS methods or need to export results digitally.
