Overview
Internal resistance rises as a battery ages, so an AC resistance reading taken with the open-circuit voltage is a quick, non-destructive indicator of a cell's health. It is used to grade and match cells in production, to check incoming cells, and to find weak cells in UPS, telecom and energy storage strings.
MEWOI offers two kinds of tester. The DHT356x bench meters measure from 1µΩ to 3kΩ at up to 100 readings per second, with RS-232/485, USB, LAN and a handler (PLC) interface for automated sorting lines. They differ mainly in maximum voltage, from 60V for cells and modules up to 1000V for complete EV and ESS packs. The handheld BST4915 and PR10A run on Li-ion batteries for field maintenance of standby battery banks.
