Sand & Dust Test Chambers

Dust and sand ingress testing verifies that an enclosure keeps fine particulates out of internal components — a distinct failure mode from water ingress, since dust behaves differently to liquid and can accumulate on moving parts, contacts and vents over time in ways a splash or spray test won't reveal. It's a standard part of IP rating verification (the first digit of an IP rating) and of MIL-STD-810 qualification for equipment intended for outdoor, industrial, or desert environments.

Sonacme's settling dust chamber range spans three volumes — 500L, 1000L, and 2000L — and offers two dust delivery methods: free-fall (centrifuge-blown dust settling naturally onto the test article) and bottom air-blast with three adjustable pressure grades, covering both the fine settling-dust test method and the circulated-dust method used for IP rating verification.
