Salt Spray, HAST Pressure-Cooker, and Ozone Aging Test Chambers
Corrosion and material-degradation testing covers a different set of failure modes to temperature/humidity cycling — electrochemical corrosion of metal parts, elastomer and polymer degradation, and moisture ingress under pressure rather than at atmospheric conditions. Each requires a purpose-built chamber rather than a general-purpose environmental chamber run at extended duration.
Sonacme's range covers salt spray (and combined temperature/humidity/salt spray) chambers for corrosion testing to ASTM B117 and ISO 9227, HAST (Highly Accelerated Stress Test) pressure-cooker chambers for accelerated moisture-related failure testing on semiconductor and electronic packages, and ozone aging chambers for evaluating rubber and elastomer degradation under ozone exposure. The salt spray corrosion chamber line spans four volumes from 480L to 8000L.
