When an amplifier has to sit inside a system rather than on a bench, such as a radar or communications transmitter, an EMC test system or a custom RF build, it is usually integrated as a module. RFlight's NTMPA modules are all-solid-state amplifiers with built-in voltage, current and temperature detection and switching control, and protection functions for reliable long-term operation.
The range falls into three groups:
Start with the frequency band, then the output power you need at the end of the chain. Check the gain against your available drive level: a final-stage module with ≥18dB gain needs a much stronger input than a ≥45dB driver. Allow for the supply current and heat dissipation of the final-stage modules in your mechanical design.
